Harry Caray died 24 years ago, but baseball keeps trying to bring him back to life to sing the 7th inning stretch. It’s bad enough that the Cubs continue to use old videos of Harry, or a terrible singer, or a live terrible singer, but for some reason, Fox decided it was time to haul Harry’s corpse out for yet another rendition – this time during the Field of Dreams game in Dyersville, IA.
Most people referred to the monstrosity as a hologram, but Fox Sports confirmed it was “Augmented Reality“, which leads me to believe they had a Harry Caray impersonator in the booth, with CGI Harry superimposed. That’s the only possible explanation for this crap:
I mean, seriously…Harry never looked like that. He looked like this:
That said, it’s time to let Harry go. The Cubs need to stop the 7th Inning “tributes” and the rest of baseball needs to just remember Harry.
