While I’m working from my home office, I have a TV on. One of the things I watch/listen to is “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on FS1. It’s a sportsradio show on TV. I mostly like his guest segments and Joy Taylor, who is awesome. The show runs 3 hours and one of the oddest things is that the start of Hour 3 is a repeat of the opening 15-18 minute segment where Colin does 2-3 monologues. They start the segment live and then at some point, Colin will start to re-read the intro to his monologues, and they switch the video away from the studio to some kind of sports highlight so the TV audience doesn’t see the edit when they switch from live to the repeated segment. I like to figure out where the edit is, but it can be difficult because they are really good at seamlessly switching from live to tape.
I prefer talk / sports radio shows that are conversations or debates with 2 or more people. I get bored listening to monologues. That said, Cowherd does what he does very well and he has a good following, so that’s cool. The show is background noise for me until he has a guest on, or Joy Taylor does the news. The best guest during the Football season is Greg Cosell (Howard’s nephew) from NFL Films, who always brings some amazing analysis of some plays from the previous weekend. Cowherd always introduces Cosell by reminding everyone that he’s an old man, which I find hilarious. He does this by saying that Cosell has 40+ years of experience with NFL Films. I mean, if Cowherd introduced everyone noting their years of work experience, that would be fine, but he mostly does it to Greg Cosell, old guy. LOL
